Outbound Campaign Launch Checklist
Use this pre-launch checklist to confirm ICP, offer, data, messaging, qualification, scheduling, reporting, and feedback before outbound begins.
Most outbound problems start before the first call. A campaign launches with a vague ICP, inconsistent lead sourcing, a script nobody has practiced, unclear qualification, or no plan for callbacks and sales feedback. This checklist is designed to make the operating system clear before activity begins.
Pre-flight: the nine systems to confirm
Target market
- Industries and geography defined.
- Company-fit criteria documented.
- Buyer roles mapped.
- Hard exclusions listed.
What the caller is selling
- One primary service or entry point.
- Clear reason a prospect would take a meeting.
- No unsupported guarantees.
- Relevant proof available.
Lead sourcing rules
- Evidence required before a company enters the list.
- Phone/contact quality checked where possible.
- Duplicates tracked.
- Enough lead buffer exists for the shift.
Call structure
- Opener is concise.
- Discovery questions are prepared.
- Common objections have response paths.
- Caller knows when to stop pushing.
What counts
- Company fit required.
- Relevant buyer required.
- Service relevance confirmed.
- Specific next step defined.
Calendar process
- Time zones clear.
- Meeting format agreed.
- Calendar availability current.
- Confirmation and reschedule path exists.
Status discipline
- Outcome codes are defined.
- Callbacks include date and reason.
- Notes are usable by another person.
- Duplicates are visible.
What gets reviewed
- Activity volume.
- Decision-maker conversations.
- Interested prospects.
- Qualified next steps and meetings.
How the campaign learns
- Closers report meeting quality.
- Rejected meetings have reasons.
- Weekly patterns are reviewed.
- Targeting or messaging can change.
Define the launch gate before you let activity scale
What a ready campaign looks like
Ready to launch
The ICP is narrow enough to research consistently, the caller understands the service, qualification is written, scheduling is tested, reporting is simple, and the closer has room to take meetings.
Not ready yet
The list is still being invented while callers dial, the pitch changes every conversation, “interested” has no definition, callbacks live in personal notes, or nobody knows how a bad meeting should be reported.
Use the first week to validate the system, not declare victory or failure too early
Early data is noisy. Instead of judging the campaign only on booked meetings, inspect whether the right companies are being called, whether buyer access is improving, what objections repeat, whether callers create concrete next steps, and whether lead sourcing supports consistent activity.
If almost no real decision-makers are reached, fix the data and routing. If the right buyers are reached but almost nobody sees relevance, review the market, offer, and messaging. If conversations are positive but few meetings are booked, coach control, qualification, and next-step language.
Keep the launch checklist connected to the rest of the system
A checklist is only useful if it becomes the baseline for ongoing review. When a campaign changes industries, services, caller, lead source, or qualification rules, revisit the relevant pre-flight section instead of assuming the old setup still applies.
