Cold Calling Script for Marketing Agencies
A practical cold calling script for marketing agencies with opener options, discovery questions, objection handling, qualification, and next-step language.
A cold calling script should give the caller structure without forcing them to sound robotic. The best script defines the opening, the reason for the call, a few discovery questions, qualification standards, and clear next-step language—then leaves room for a real conversation.
A simple base script
Do not turn the opener into a pitch
Too much, too early
“We are a full-service award-winning agency offering SEO, PPC, web design, social media, email, branding, content, and lead generation…” The prospect has not yet agreed that any of those services matter.
One reason to continue
Lead with one service and one relevant question. The first objective is to earn a useful conversation, not to recite the agency website.
Discovery questions that keep the call natural
Ownership
“Are you the person who handles [service area], or is that owned by someone else?”
Current approach
“Is that handled entirely in-house today, or do you sometimes use outside support?”
Relevance
“Is improving [specific outcome] something the team is actively thinking about, or not a priority right now?”
Timing
“If outside support became relevant, is there a particular project or period when it would make sense to revisit?”
Do not fire every question in sequence. Use the answer to choose the next question. A call should feel like a conversation, not a form.

What a qualified meeting should sound like before it is booked
- The company fits the target market.
- The person is a relevant buyer or can route you to the buyer.
- The prospect understands the service topic.
- There is genuine openness to a sales conversation.
- A specific date and time is agreed.
- The caller records useful notes for the closer.
